Hardy Perfect Fly Reel

Item #HY102

CLOSEOUT 30% OFF: The HARDY "PERFECT" FLY REELS: First introduced in 1891, the HARDY "Perfect" was a masterpiece, far ahead of its time. It included all of the improvements that fisherman had been asking for; it was narrow between the plates, deep in the drum, had an adjustable click-check (drag), ran on ball-bearings, had foot mounting and a revolving ring line guard. The Perfect has no palming rim, instead a spool face that you can apply finger pressure to from the side. This is possible as the handle is not on the spool like on a modern conventional fly reel, but rather on the back face. Both the spool and back face turn.

Considered by many to be the finest production fly reel ever made, the final Perfect reels left the Alnwick factory in the mid 1970's. Now, over a century since their debut, the Perfect has been re-born, blending modern materials and manufacturing techniques with its timeless design. The agate line guard, dovetail fittings, and classic anodized gunmetal-grey finish with distinctive ivorine handle; truly one of history's most strikingly recognizable fly reels.

And how well it fishes- fifteen stainless steel ball-bearings give the smoothness of the winds, the time-proven click-check (drag) system provides silky control (protecting the lightest tippets), now engineered from top quality aircraft aluminum and English navel brass spindle on the plate. This is your chance to own and fish the most famous product ever to have left the Hardy factory in Alnwick, England. Liken it to wing shooting with a Holland & Holland or Purdy double. Worthy of the finest classic bamboo fly rod as well as today's cutting edge graphite fly rods. Less than 500 Perfects will be made this year at its original birthplace, Alnwick, England. Supplied in soft, sheepskin lined leather pouch. SPECIFY LEFT or RIGHT HAND RETRIEVE
