This page list flies and other items recommended for your trip to Bolivia targeting Peacock Bass, Payara and Sardinata.
Peacock Bass: streamers in the 2/0 range are best for Bolvia peacock bass fly anglers. A mix of colors is recommended with our top flies being the Flashtail Whistler, Bush Pig (in 2/0) and Lefty's Deciever. Leaders for Peacocks are pretty simple. A 6ft section of 20-30lb Saltwater Fluorocarbon is perfect. Feel free to bring a few poppers (2/0), but most action will be subsurface with streamers mentioned.
Payara: to target Payara, you will first need a steel leader. Rio's Wire Bite Tippet in 30lb for those that want to build their own leaders, but for a simple and effective option, just get a few of Rio's Toothy Critter leaders (30lb). For flies, think big and sometimes flashy. Target deep fast water for the larger fish and the heads of those pools for sight fishing opportunties if the water is right.
Sardinata: Sardinata look a lot like a small tarpon, except they have a brilliant golden holographic coloration, reminiscent of the freshwater dorado. These fish have smaller mouths than the peacocks, so inhaling a Peacock sized fly is difficult. If you come across them, use a size 2 Bubble Head Poppers or smaller Clouser Minnows (size 2 or 4).
