Ordered this for a trip to Wyoming on the North Platte river. I normally use 5X and 6X tippet. I was excited to see the half sizes and got the 5X and 5.5X. For some reason also got 4X and 4.5X. When I started with the 5 and 5.5X, I was getting a lot of break offs. I have been fishing for a long time and usually do not have this much problem. I switched to the 4 and 4.5X and had less problem. On the good side, the larger size did not seem to affect the fish. 2 other things. The hole in the middle is too big for most tippet holders and for the price, they should put a better band on the outside of the tippet.

Breakage issue

My best buddy recommended Trout Hunter tippet. He ordered me 4x 5.5x & 6.5x. I fished the Arkansas river yesterday, and had 4 break offs on the 5.5x tippet. These were not at knots. The fish were good, but not that good. Ive been flyfishing for 60 years and I have never seen this. Have always sworn by climax, but cant get it anymore so I trie Trout Hunter. Maybe 5.5x was too thin. Who knows, but my 1st experience was not very promising.
